Dinner at le trésor

the gastro weekend
Spend Friday afternoon visiting the blanquette caves in Limoux and sampling some of the region's delicious sparkling wine, which pre-dates champagne. Apparently Dom Pérignon visited Limoux on his way from Spain to northern France and was so inspired by this crisp, fruity tipple that he took the recipe with him to Champagne!

From Limoux, it is a thirty minute drive to le Trésor on quiet country roads, which take you through beautiful vineyards and on up into the hills where you will see magnificent views of the Pyrenees.

When you arrive, put your feet up and unwind with a bottle of house wine. In the evening enjoy a kir royale, followed by a four course meal for two in the dining room, made from fresh, mainly organic produce of the region.

On Saturday morning enjoy a breakfast of fresh fruit juice, organic muesli, yogurts and fruit salad followed by warm croissants and pain au chocolat, with a pot of strong coffee or tea for two. Spend the rest of the morning on a pre-booked wine tour at
Domaine Gayda, followed by a lunch in their restaurant.

Meander back to le Trésor, perhaps stopping off at the medieval town of Mirepoix on the way. Once back, enjoy a DVD in your room, chosen from our library or perhaps a game of pool in the salon. In the evening, there is a choice of having a full menu in the dining room, or simply ordering a board of the best local cheeses to accompany some of the wine you have bought during the day.

On Sunday take the wonderful opportunity to explore Carcassonne's famous cité and ramparts and have lunch in Le Parc, Franck Putelat's award winning Michelin star restaurant. (Menus at lunchtime during the week start from only 24 euros per person.
)

"Céline and Franck Putelat ... preside over a restaurant, barely 18 months old, with an impressive modern interior... Everything from the Mikasa glassware to the egg-shaped stainless steel decanters is original and inspired. So, too, is the €55 “Classique ... Fiction” menu in which Putelat reinterprets five traditional dishes: floating islands; bouillabaisse; vegetables à la greque; paella; and peach Melba. ." Nicholas Lander, FT.com, Sept 2007

Weekends from 140 € per person, this includes two nights accommodation, breakfast, a bottle of wine on arrival, cocktails and a four course evening meal with wine and a full cheeseboard.

We will make reservations for you at Domaine Gayda and at Le Parc - the package cost does not include your meals at these two places.
